Our Story

In 2017, my mom was diagnosed with cancer, and I suddenly felt an urgent need to preserve her voice. I bought her a memoir-writing book, but she never used it. “Writing feels like homework,” she said.

So I pulled out my phone, hit record, and we just talked. I learned more than I ever could have imagined.

That’s why we built Remento, the simplest way to preserve a parent's memories for the future. Because one day, having those stories and their voice will be more precious than you could ever know.

Frequently asked questions

How do my stories get written?

Remento’s automated Speech-to-Story technology processes the transcripts of your recordings based on your preference. For any story, you can either select to have a “cleaned transcript” printed in your book - meaning Remento won’t change the structure or words you use when speaking. Or, Remento can restructure your words and turn them into a polished written narrative, written in either the first or third person. Either way, you’ll be able to change your mind and can always edit the text however you see fit.

What exactly is included?

Our standard package includes a year’s worth of story prompts for one storyteller, unlimited collaborators, and one credit for one color-printed hardcover book (up to 200 pages). Shipping in the United States is included in the purchase price. You can buy additional copies of your book for $69 each.

What happens after a year of recording stories?

At any point during your year-long subscription to Remento, you'll have the chance to turn your written stories and photos into a book. Your purchase includes one color-printed book, and additional copies can be ordered for a fee.

After a year, you can either renew or cancel your subscription. By renewing, you'll be able to continue recording new stories and creating new books. But don't worry - if you don't renew, you can still view all of your family's recordings and download any video or photo from our website at any time.

Who will have access to this content?

Everything created with Remento is private by default, meaning you control who sees your content. All recordings are encrypted in our database and communication between your browser and our platform uses secure protocols.
